Red velvet

Coreopsis has a very pretty flower. We use it as a dye-plant. It grows from seed fairly happily in a warm place. Shown are just three of the many colours it gives. These vary a lot depending on pH, on which flower variety you use, on how carefully you pluck the flowerheads, on the base... A mercurial character.

The actual plant dye recipes we use can be found on our sister web site www.selvage.co.uk
